Volunteer in Janakpur Nepal

You are the soul which can elevate another soul from grief and sorrow through your actions. Helping hand foundation Nepal is a foundation which gives a platform for benevolent people like you to take the initiative and assist the lives of people in dire circumstances with your noble service and charity to humanity. Janakpur or Janakpurdham land is a holy place from a Hinduism point of view. It is the home of the Late King Janak and the palace where Sita was raised and married to Lord Rama, the prince of Ayodhya. For Sanatan Hindus, it is a holy pilgrimage site. Even it has been known that Gautama Buddha and Vardhamana Mahavira, a Jain guru, had been reported to have lived in Janakpur anciently. The principal language spoken by the people of Janakpur is Bhojpuri and Awadhi. It is connected by road, railways and airways also.

Janakpur is related to the Ramayana, a Hindu epic, and it is a significant place of pilgrimage for Hindus. When you volunteer in Janakpur, you will get a chance to assist underprivileged children, volunteer in healthcare programs, teach in community schools etc. You will also gain the opportunity to explore one of the holiest Hindu cities in Nepal and meet diverse people from all walks of life. By giving a chance to volunteer in the disadvantaged society, our goal is to establish volunteer programs in the Janakpur zone. Therefore, we extend an invitation to all volunteers from across the world to contribute to society by helping in the Janakpur area.

You can visit any of the sites while volunteering in Janakpur with HHFN; some of them are highlighted here to give you a better understanding of Janakpur.

Janaki temple

Janaki temple is a holy Hindu temple constructed beautifully in white at 1480 square kilometres. It has sixty rooms decorated with flags, engravings and paintings, coloured glass, lattice windows and turrets. It became a UNESCO site in 2008. Janaki temple is the name of Goddess Sita.

Ram Mandir

It is one of the oldest temples, built in the 17 century by the Late Amar Singh Thapa, a Gorkha general. It is within ten minutes of walking distance of Janaki temple and surrounded by shrines and the idol of Lord Rama. Many pilgrims come here and offer worship to Lord Rama inside the temple.

Mani Mandap

Mani Mandap is a hidden gem of Janakpur as it is the accurate site of Lord Ram and Sita’s wedding place. Nearby is a pond where Lord Rama had washed his hands before putting Sindoor on Sita’s forehead. It is a massive part of the heritage of Janakpurdham.

Muralichowk

It is a beautiful bazaar with a clock tower in Janakpurdham. Visitors cannot only skirt around the town in relaxing rickshaw rides and get glimpses of the lifestyles of Janakpur, but from here, they can also reach the main temple premises easily.

Janakpur, though, is a monumental place in Nepal. The people here are in a deprived state. The people here are scarce of pure drinking water, water congestion and floods in monsoons, no good road or sewage construction, poor health and medical facilities, pollution problems, lack of social security, lack of proper economic plans for boosting tourism and exporting handmade handicrafts to other Countries, need for upgrading life of workers, women and children to have a sustainable life and population control and reducing infant mortality rates are the main areas which are to be focused for development of this historic city.

Helping Hands Foundation Nepal, since its establishment in 2009, is a nonprofit organization deploying volunteers safely and securely to work in different areas of development for upscaling lives of less privileged people, mainly children, women, old aged and marginalized backgrounds. They have been assigned to perform tasks for which they have knowledge and skills, such as teaching English at Schools, construction and renovations, student adventure tour, youth empowerment programs, hands-on medical volunteers, group community development programs and environmental conservation programs. At the cost of 100 to 200 Dollars per week, they also get hygienic food and accommodation and cover all registration fees to start volunteering and helping the needy of Janakpur.
