Your Responsibilities & Impacts

Your roles and responsibilities for medical volunteering program in Nepal vary depending on your qualification, skills, experience and the community’s needs. As per your skills and qualifications, you will directly get involved in treatments of patients with doctors and nurses.

Your major roles include record keeping, blood pressure checking, distributing medicines and temperature measuring. You will also assist in designing and implementing various efforts to improve the health of the underprivileged and marginalized people. At times, you will also participate in health camps and vaccination programs alongside doctors, nurses, and medical personnel.

At HHFN, we are committed to provide health education, sanitation and hygiene related education, maternal & child health services, family planning, yoga and First Aid education to the poor, marginalized and disadvantaged communities. HHFN also aims to construct at least 1000 toilets in the rural areas as majority of these people do not have permanent toilet. Thus, you will actively participate in these activities.

Volunteer Schedule

When you arrive in Nepal, our airport representative picks you up at the airport and transfers to your accommodation. The next morning, our project coordinator gives you an orientation about the country, safety procedures, Dos and Don’ts along with the general outline of the volunteering in Nepal program. After orientation, you will be taken to your respective project and you will start your volunteer work. There is not such a fixed daily schedule as volunteering works vary every day. Here is sample daily schedule:

7.30 AM: Enjoy your delicious breakfast at your accommodation.

8.45 AM: You will commute to your placement and shadow local doctors and nurses in various types of medical activities.

12.00 PM: Lunch

3.00 PM: Work at the placement usually ends. Volunteers are free to travel home, prepare for the next day or do some shopping and sightseeing.

7.30 PM: Dinner.
